What Can a Conveyor Oven Do for Your Professional Kitchen?

Conveyor ovens are one of the most efficient ways to allow toasted or cooked foods to be prepared without as little employee intervention as possible. They eliminate the risk of an employee forgetting to take the food out of the oven which could not only be costly, but also dangerous.
The consistent quality that conveyor ovens provide is an essential ingredient for the success of restaurants. But they are especially beneficial for smaller restaurants, since the compact ovens save workspace and allow smoother workflow among employees.
Because of their design, conveyor ovens maintain the same temperature distribution, which creates better food quality. Most ovens range between 150 F and 1200 F. A large fan sits in the back of the oven which forces cooled air to reheat and come in contact with the food. This cooks food efficiently without wasting heat. The process is also energy efficient, because the fan recycles the heated air.
From a taste standpoint conveyor ovens are an excellent choice for some types of foods, since they warm the food without drying. A thin film coats the food to keep moisture and taste inside creating a rich brown toasted color on the outside. Because of this, conveyor ovens have been especially popular in the toasted sub sandwich sector where consistent quality is especially important. Because they do not need to be monitored, the sandwiches can travel from one station to another creating an assembly line; with less risk of burning---less wasted food.
In order to save more space, the ovens can be stacked on top of each other. With this arrangement, the units still act separately---the heat of one of the oven does not affect the temperature of the other units.
The conveyor aspect of the oven can also be adjusted. Longer cooking chambers can create longer cooking times, but the same effect can be achieved by changing the speed on the conveyor. For example, among items of the same type, at a constant temperature, users would pass larger items through more slowly. Also, the air circulation can be changed to cook different items. If the air velocity is increased, the air contact with the food is greater.
One of the best aspects of a conveyor oven is the versatility. The oven height can be adjusted to accommodate larger or smaller items. Anything can be cooked in a conveyor oven as long as it fits.
The oven itself is easy to clean and even easier to maintain; because of the crumb catcher at the bottom, While that part has to be cleaned daily, the machine itself does not need to be cleaned more than once a week (monthly deep cleanings). Along with regular cleaning of the unit, heavy grease buildup in the oven can be avoided with proper ventilation and a basically clean kitchen. This will also extend the life of the oven.
From a food safety perspective, because of the single belt direction, unclean or uncooked materials can be kept on the entry end of the oven area and final cooked and prepared items can be kept in the other (exit) area. This maintains a clean and safe cooking environment by imposing an effective barrier that is consistent with health codes and basic sanitary food preparation conditions.
